YouTube Divorce is Not Important.

Tricia Walsh Smith is apperantely some G.I.L.F. from London that put a video on YouTube of herself talking about her "nasty" divorce. She starts off crying about how life's not fair because she can't get all of her husband's money now that he's kicking her out. After a few minutes of that she starts airing his business by mentioning his viagra, condems and porn. Then she goes on another rant about how they don't have sex. Finally, they all die and the world lives happily ever after. (In her defense, she is really hott for a Granny)

This isn't a news story. You see and hear people talking about this all the time. Some unimportant little story gets a little attention and all of a sudden it's everywhere and everybody wants to talk about it. Hell, I'm talking about it right now! The difference is, I'm talking about this story because it's #1 on Google Trends.

Why is this the number 1 searched item on Google Trends? Because the minute this video went up, people started watching and and it got a few hits. Next, it shows up on a few bookmark sites. Pay attention because this is where the world goes to hell. People start seeing a trendy story and latch on. They want hits on their blogs so they jump at the first sign of a big trendy story.

This garbage even jumped ahead of the #2 item on Google Trends, some boring story about WILDFIRES IN COLORADO! and this story about one of the survivors of the Va Tech shooting that happened just one year ago today. The really sad thing is that the name Jackie Robinson isn't even in the Top 20. By the way, how Corbin Bernsen got on this list is anybody's guess.

What does this say about the internet, Google Trends or all of civilization? We've become so obsessed with drawing attention to ourselves and our blogs, websites, and our YouTube videos that we've stopped caring about the really important sh*t. Example? The above blog entry.

Thank you and Goodnight!
