Some More Gangster Sketches
A few more sketches of the "Gangster" character I posted the other day. These are a little rough and incomplete, I was having trouble with the hands. Hopefully I can go back and redo them when I get a chance.

First Attempt at the Joker...
This is the first time I've ever tried to draw the Joker. Somebody challenged me to do and the gag popped into my head immediately. This is another one I'd love to recolor after I ink it... if I can get another tablet any time soon...
Another Sketch...
This beautiful young lady let me do a "revision" of one of her photos... I didn't really change much, just a slight change in posture and the color of the glasses. I had inked the pencils and was coloring that version when my tablet broke so I have no idea if I'll ever be able to finish that version but it was looking even better than this one.

Another Sketch
This is a sketch that somebody off of MySpace asked me to do. Yes... if you ask me to do a sketch of you I will... as long as there's time.

Battle Android
Sketched with a #2, darkened with a 6B. Flats (colors) digital. Hopefully I'll be able to go back and add some soft shading to this soon but I wanna draw another version with some weapons added in so I don't know if that'll happen.
Some Recent Pencils...
Sketched it with a #2 then went back over it with a 4B. The flats (colors) are digital and done directly over the pencils (no inks)

Hijos de P - A Zuda Webcomic
Hijos de P - "Ciudad P is a suburb where the country’s tradition joins its crime and corruption. Six characters will try to change their fate written with blood and bullets."
Finally, Zuda produces a decent crime story! When I started reading this story I felt like I was 15 years old, walking down the hall on my way to class when I rounded a corner and bumped into the prettiest girl in school.
The first 8 pages are nothing but a set-up for what's to come (hopefully.) It describes a crime-ridden suburb just outside of the "Capitol City" where nothing good ever happens. While all of this is being explained, we're slowly (but not too slowly) introduced to two of our new friends around whom the story revolves.
It's beautifully drawn in black and white ink with an impressive style that keeps your attention. I would've loved to see this one done in grayscale but I guess we can't always have our cake and eat it too.
Extracurricular Activities - A Zuda Webcomic
Extracurricular Activities - "In St. Francis’ Academy, a dead body has just been found in the vice principal's office. There are some who care and some who don’t. All that matters is making sure no one finds the body."
I don't have much to say about this one. The story itself wasn't great but wasn't terrible either. The same goes for the art... good but nothing special.
What I would like to talk about is that terrible synopsis
"...a dead body has just been found... ...All that matters is making sure no on finds the body."
What? Is this for real? I feel like I've just stumbled upon a dark paradox that could tear the fabric of space and time. When I read it I couldn't stop the wheels from turning and so, for your viewing pleasure, I give you 5 new short story ideas in synopsis...
"When an aging Samurai looses his family at the hands of a rival clan, he must train to become the greatest Samurai the world has ever known as he defends his family from a dangerous new clan!"
"When the colony on Mars was destroyed they had nowhere to go. Now they'll have to leave Earth all over again to explore the dangerous Solar System!"
"In a world gone mad, one man must save us all before we all go mad!"
"Samantha doesn't know where her life is supposed to go. All she knows is that the vampires are after her... now she has to get away!"
Ok, it's only 4... but seriously! You can only do so many of these before you start to feel your brain dying. So that's why I stopped at 4 (get it?)
Blood Covenant: Revelation - A Zuda Webcomic
Blood Covenant: Revelation - "4 vampires known as the Hunters seek revenge on Viktor, the one who killed their king. Viktor will not go down without a fight. Now the Hunters must face his army with an army of their own."
When I first saw this I thought "oh for fuck sake! Not another vampire story!" I mean, Vampires are the new Zombies right? But this story wasn't that bad.
The art was fantastic, especially the pencils. The colors could use a little work, mostly the shading. There are plenty of splash pages which can come in handy when your story's strong suit is the art.
The characters are ok. I loved the simple look of the Nosferatu but the main team wearing sleek black suits are so cliche it's distracting, but you can't really expect anything more from a story that's cliche from the title to the predictable twist at the end.
Overall I think it delivers enough with the art to overcome all the cliches but not enough to keep me interested in future installments. Oh, and the dialogue is aweful.
New Zuda Competition - Baby Monsters
Baby Monsters - "Shaun and Jeremiah are the first patients to successfully undergo the superhuman creation process known as anthemia. Baby Monsters follow them as their powers grow with the challenges they face."
If you don't read the synopsis before you read the comic... you may have a hard time figuring out what's going on here. That wouldn't be a problem if the synopsis weren't so general.
Judging from the technology used, the story is set in a futuristic world. I thought that was one of the more interesting aspects of the story that left me a little curious. What kind of cities do they live in? What kind of society do they come from?
The problem with this story is that it changes scenes erratically and abruptly. The transitions are choppy and leave you confused. Was he talking to this guy? Now who is this?
Overall I'd have to say it's a decent concept with poor execution and too many questions left over.
