Some More Gangster Sketches
A few more sketches of the "Gangster" character I posted the other day. These are a little rough and incomplete, I was having trouble with the hands. Hopefully I can go back and redo them when I get a chance.

First Attempt at the Joker...
This is the first time I've ever tried to draw the Joker. Somebody challenged me to do and the gag popped into my head immediately. This is another one I'd love to recolor after I ink it... if I can get another tablet any time soon...
Another Sketch...
This beautiful young lady let me do a "revision" of one of her photos... I didn't really change much, just a slight change in posture and the color of the glasses. I had inked the pencils and was coloring that version when my tablet broke so I have no idea if I'll ever be able to finish that version but it was looking even better than this one.

Battle Android
Sketched with a #2, darkened with a 6B. Flats (colors) digital. Hopefully I'll be able to go back and add some soft shading to this soon but I wanna draw another version with some weapons added in so I don't know if that'll happen.
Some Recent Pencils...
Sketched it with a #2 then went back over it with a 4B. The flats (colors) are digital and done directly over the pencils (no inks)

Hijos de P - A Zuda Webcomic
Hijos de P - "Ciudad P is a suburb where the country’s tradition joins its crime and corruption. Six characters will try to change their fate written with blood and bullets."
Finally, Zuda produces a decent crime story! When I started reading this story I felt like I was 15 years old, walking down the hall on my way to class when I rounded a corner and bumped into the prettiest girl in school.
The first 8 pages are nothing but a set-up for what's to come (hopefully.) It describes a crime-ridden suburb just outside of the "Capitol City" where nothing good ever happens. While all of this is being explained, we're slowly (but not too slowly) introduced to two of our new friends around whom the story revolves.
It's beautifully drawn in black and white ink with an impressive style that keeps your attention. I would've loved to see this one done in grayscale but I guess we can't always have our cake and eat it too.
Extracurricular Activities - A Zuda Webcomic
Extracurricular Activities - "In St. Francis’ Academy, a dead body has just been found in the vice principal's office. There are some who care and some who don’t. All that matters is making sure no one finds the body."
I don't have much to say about this one. The story itself wasn't great but wasn't terrible either. The same goes for the art... good but nothing special.
What I would like to talk about is that terrible synopsis
"...a dead body has just been found... ...All that matters is making sure no on finds the body."
What? Is this for real? I feel like I've just stumbled upon a dark paradox that could tear the fabric of space and time. When I read it I couldn't stop the wheels from turning and so, for your viewing pleasure, I give you 5 new short story ideas in synopsis...
"When an aging Samurai looses his family at the hands of a rival clan, he must train to become the greatest Samurai the world has ever known as he defends his family from a dangerous new clan!"
"When the colony on Mars was destroyed they had nowhere to go. Now they'll have to leave Earth all over again to explore the dangerous Solar System!"
"In a world gone mad, one man must save us all before we all go mad!"
"Samantha doesn't know where her life is supposed to go. All she knows is that the vampires are after her... now she has to get away!"
Ok, it's only 4... but seriously! You can only do so many of these before you start to feel your brain dying. So that's why I stopped at 4 (get it?)
Blood Covenant: Revelation - A Zuda Webcomic
Blood Covenant: Revelation - "4 vampires known as the Hunters seek revenge on Viktor, the one who killed their king. Viktor will not go down without a fight. Now the Hunters must face his army with an army of their own."
When I first saw this I thought "oh for fuck sake! Not another vampire story!" I mean, Vampires are the new Zombies right? But this story wasn't that bad.
The art was fantastic, especially the pencils. The colors could use a little work, mostly the shading. There are plenty of splash pages which can come in handy when your story's strong suit is the art.
The characters are ok. I loved the simple look of the Nosferatu but the main team wearing sleek black suits are so cliche it's distracting, but you can't really expect anything more from a story that's cliche from the title to the predictable twist at the end.
Overall I think it delivers enough with the art to overcome all the cliches but not enough to keep me interested in future installments. Oh, and the dialogue is aweful.
New Zuda Competition - Baby Monsters
Baby Monsters - "Shaun and Jeremiah are the first patients to successfully undergo the superhuman creation process known as anthemia. Baby Monsters follow them as their powers grow with the challenges they face."
If you don't read the synopsis before you read the comic... you may have a hard time figuring out what's going on here. That wouldn't be a problem if the synopsis weren't so general.
Judging from the technology used, the story is set in a futuristic world. I thought that was one of the more interesting aspects of the story that left me a little curious. What kind of cities do they live in? What kind of society do they come from?
The problem with this story is that it changes scenes erratically and abruptly. The transitions are choppy and leave you confused. Was he talking to this guy? Now who is this?
Overall I'd have to say it's a decent concept with poor execution and too many questions left over.

Football Picks Sept 11-15 Finals
Well after going 6-0 in my college picks, the NFL picks completely ruined my record. 3 of those games were won or lost by less than a touchdown though, so it could've easily been a completely different picture.

Football Picks Sept 11-15 (Update 2)
I was a perfect 6 for 6 in my college picks this week. It almost seems like I made the obvious picks in obvious lopsided contests when you look at the final scores of the UNC - Rutgers game, OSU - USC game and the Mich - ND game but if anybody says they predicted a blowout in either of those games they're probably lying.

Football Picks Sept 6-8 Final Score
I'm not happy with my results. 5-3 isn't bad but it's not great either. The damn Colts loss was a fluke but the Vikings/Packers game was another story.
I still don't think Arron Rodgers is gonna be any good this season but he did have a good game last night.
I said in the original post for this week's picks that I might have been giving the Raiders too much credit with the score I gave them... that's an understatement. They were flat out awful! And Eddie Royal (From Virginia Tech) had a great debut game for the Broncos!
I think as the season goes on I'll have a clearer picture of what's going on and my scores each week will be a little better.
New Layout For My Webcomics
I've made some changes to the layout of my webcomics. Mostly to Untelevised and also a few changes to Clinical Assassin
I'm still looking into making a few more "adjustments" later but I like it for now.

I was working on the cover for the 'Clinical Assassin' print version (28 pgs) this morning when I accidentally spilt water on it... (insert sad face here)
It wasn't a lot and the pencils aren't ruined so I may be able to fix it once I get it inked and scanned onto my computer.

Vice President Sarah Palin?
McCain's Vice Presidential Candidate, Sarah Palin, doesn't know what the Vice President does. I'm not making that up. When you watch the video above, at the 2:50 mark (that's 2 minutes 50 seconds) after being asked about the possibility of being McCain's running mate she says "... but as for that VP talk all the time, I tell ya' I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me 'What is it exactly that the Vee Pee does every day?'..."
Could you have possibly made a worse choice? The only smart thing the McCain camp has done was make the announcement today to disrupt the Obama coverage.

Who Really Cares>
I don't know why people get excited about the Clintons. They've done as much to hurt the Democratic Party in the last few months as the Republicans and everybody is treating the DNC like it's their show. Maybe after Bill Clinton gives his speech Wednesday night they'll stay out of the spotlight at least until after the election.

The Force Unleashed
I played the Force Unleashed demo on the PS3 and loved it. Once you get comfortable with the controls it's a lot of fun. Throwing a crate into the path of a TIE Fighter is pretty easy but entertaining.
The only thing I didn't like was the cinematic scene. It looks like it belongs somewhere between the PS2 and the PS3.
I don't know if the guy that plays the main character did the voice or not (just assuming he did) but whoever did it did a good job and the dialogue made the scene interesting.

Update
I just wanted to clarify any confusion over today's Untelevised strip. I'm rerunning yesterday's strip since the site was down yesterday. So if you happened to catch the score of the Yankees' inhumane loss to the Red Sox yesterday, that's why it doesn't match today's comic.

Savage Runs His Mouth Again
Today's update for Untelevised is about Michael Savage and the comments he made the other day about Autistic Children (something about their parents using it as an excuse instead of telling their children to "stfu")
There was some stuff on the news about people protesting and promising to boycot his advertisers. I don't know what difference it would make, most of his listeners agree with him... that's kinda why they listen to him in the first place.
It's hardly the first time he's said something this stupid before either. Almost every night he says something rude and offensive about whatever large group of people he happens to be talking about that day.
The good news is he's old...
Have A Nice Day.

The New Yorker Fails
Today's installment of Untelevised depicts the Editor of the New Yorker, David Remnick, as a memeber of the KKK. Not because I think he's a racist, but because I think he's a fucking idiot. It's intentionally baseless and untrue... just like this week's cover illistration of 'The New Yorker'
The New Yorker is supposedly a pro-Obama magazine, but if you've seen the cover of this week's issue it's pretty much the exact opposite. It's the one with the "satirical caricature" of Mr & Mrs Obama as an Islamic terrorist and black militant giving each other a "terrorist fist jab" in the Oval Office with a painting of Bin Laden hanging over the fireplace where an American flag is burning... I swear I'm not making this shit up.
The picture is supposed to put a spin on the lies spread about Obama on the internets. The article inside the magazine, the one nobody is gonna read, sheds some light on those lies and the fact that they are lies but like I said... nobody is gonna read it.
What people will do is see the cover sitting on the magazine rack staring back at them depicting that black guy they're still not sure about as a fucking terrorist.
Do I think they did it on purpose to scare people? No. Did they do it to sell magazines? Yes. Are they fucking idiots that had no idea they were fucking idiots? YES.

Oasis and Jay-Z
I thought this was funny even though I take Noel's side. Jay-Z was taking a shot at Noel Gallagher for saying he shouldn't be playing at Glastonbury because it's a Rock festival.
The only problem is that Glastonbury is in England... which as you'll see a little bit into the video has a big Oasis fan base.
He let it play too long and by the second verse he was mumbling all the parts he didn't know. At that point he starts playng to the crowd encouraging them to sing along... because he's not stupid.
'Attack of the Show' played a clip of the video in their "Epic Fail" segment last night, but keep in mind this is the show that thinks calling anybody that's not a fucking nerd a douche is cool.
I don't think this is that big of a deal either. Jay-Z has some good points about respecting all forms of music but at the same time he missunderstood what Noel was saying about Glastonbury specifically. I don't agree with Noel's opinion of hip-hop, but I do agree that a bunch of hippies at a rock festival aren't that interested in artists like Jay-Z and Amy Whinehouse or w/e her name is, who punched a fan at the show probably because nobody (Oasis fans or Jay-Z fans) wants to hear that shit.

Untelevised Hits 10000
Untelevised reached 10,000 pageviews yesterday. It's been my most successful webcomic so far. Shan and Shanny is still ahead of it with about 16300 pageviews but that series is almost 2 years old now (Untelevised is less than 2 months old)
I've been wanting to make some t-shirt designs based on the series so hopefully I can do that sometime next week. If anybody has any requests let me know. (email: ShanBruceLee@yahoo.com)

Obama Sketch From 'Untelevised' Series
This is the latest installment of Untelevised that went live this morning. I did it last night while I was listening to him give his victory speech after passing the delegate mark to become the Democratic Nominee for President!
It's probably one of the best sketch portraits I've ever done, so the fact that it only took a few hours to go from a blank piece of paper to this finished strip is pretty damn good for me. It's a good sign that my art skills are improving.
I probably won't be doing any sketches like this for a while, but it was fun to do and hopefully I'll get a chance to do some more. For now I'm sticking to caricatures and stick figure politicians.
'Shan and Shanny' Put On Hold
I've been really busy lately with Untelevised and the print version of Clinical Assassin and as a result I haven't been able to do anything with the Shan and Shanny series.
It's not that I've completely neglected the series, it's just that... well I've pretty much completely neglected it. But I do plan on eventually doing some more pages for the series. I have a lot of fun stuff floating around in the back of my head that I had planned on doing eventually, but at this point I'd rather focus on my more serious and, honestly, more important work.

I wish I had something other than political videos to post lately but for the time being I don't. Fortunately, this sh*t is hilarious. Not really, but it would be if it wasn't so true. The best part is the very end when he tells Bush to "Shut. The. HELL. up!" Read More......

Off and Running
I'm just 3 days in now and Untelevised is off to a great start. Of the four webcomics I've done, 'Untelevised' has had the best 1st and 2nd day and the 3rd looks like it could be even better (it's 4:00am as I'm writing this)
It was my second highest comic yesterday (based on page views) which is pretty impressive considering the comic consists of one page and a title page. It even gave Clinical Assassin a run for it's money. (Just to put that in perspective, 'Clinical Assassin' is by far my highest ranking comic - It nearly doubles the total page hits for my other two comics on Saturdays, the day I update it)
Let's hope this holds. Like I said in this article yesterday, I've already got the first 10 strips ready to be uploaded so I've got a good head start. By the time I reach that 10th strip I should have a good idea of how well the comic is gonna be recieved.
I'll be sure to update again around that time.
